Last time my mom was here to visit we needed a project and this is what we came up with. I had seen these crochetted flowers around and thought we should give it a try. We didn't have a pattern so I look a couple up... didn't love them. So we made our own and now I'm sharing!
The first pattern is for a flower like this...
5 petal flower
Rnd 1: ch 4, join into a ring with sl st in 1st chain
Rnd 2: ch1, sc 10 in ring, sl st in top of ch to join
Rnd 1: ch 4, join into a ring with sl st in 1st chain
Rnd 2: ch1, sc 10 in ring, sl st in top of ch to join
Rnd 3: *ch2, 3 dc in next st, ch 2, sl st in next stitch* 5 times. Fasten off!
We had a couple yarns that were thicker (like this yellow yarn) and needed a different pattern, so here's the pattern for a flower like this...
Rd 1: ch4, join into a ring with sl st in 1st ch
Rd 2: ch 1, 5 sc in ring, sl st in top of ch to join
Rd 3: *ch 2, dc in next st, ch 2, sl st in same st* 5 times. Fasten off!
Rd 3: *ch 2, dc in next st, ch 2, sl st in same st* 5 times. Fasten off!
Then we decided to try something different...
9 petal flower
Rnd 1: ch 4, join into a ring with sl st in 1st ch
Rnd 2: ch 1, 9 sc in ring, sl st in top of chain to join
Rnd 3: *ch 3, dc in next st, ch 3, sl st in same st* 9 times. Fasten off.
This is what the flowers looked like without a button. We then sewed the buttons on with the loose strings.
We covered hair clips with ribbon (using hot glue)

And then glued the flowers on top (hot glue again).
This a neat flower, I just made one, they are quick and easy to do so many possibilities.
