Pantry Inventory

Have you ever made it half way through a recipe and realized you're out of a key ingredient. One that you 'always have on hand.' Something that should just always be there. Like flour, sugar, yeast. This must have happened to me one too many times because I was determined to come up with a solution.
Hence my Pantry Inventory
I made a chart of ingredients/food I keep in my pantry or food storage. I listed the food items down the side and numbered 1-10 across the top. Then I of course put them on some pretty paper and laminated them. I went through everything I had and marked it with a dry-erase marker on my chart. (Starting out and counting everything was the hardest part, but worth it).

Now when I open a new package of something I erase one of the marks on my chart. When I go the the grocery store, I take a quick look at my chart first, add items to my list that are getting low, and buy them. Then when I put them away I adjust the count on my chart. Easy. And so many less last minute emergency shopping trips!

  1. Such a great idea! Do you by chance have a pdf of it you could share?

  2. Sorry, no pdf. We just got a new computer and so alot of the random files went out with the old!

  3. Love it!! I am currently putting something similar together to keep track of the items that I have in my deep freezer. It should make it up on my blog, A Home Made by Kiki, sometime this month. I'm also doing a series on simplifying and organizing this month and would love for you to link up! I'm a new follower of yours as well!

  4. Great idea! I'm hosting We're Organized Wednesday through Saturday and would love for you to join the party.

  5. Hmm "Emily's" must think alike! I do this too, but I'm very OCD, so mine is in alphabetical order. I use a lot of categories so that they're easier to find if I'm looking for something specific. For example, Beans - Black, Beans - Green, Beans - Refried, Beans - Dried Red....blah blah blah. Been working great for me and my family! Thanks for sharing yours!

It is always fun to hear from our readers. Thanks for stopping by!
