Baby Knits: Chunky and Cabled Knit Hats

I have a good friend who is expecting a little bundle of joy soon, so what to do but knit up some hats to keep his little head warm this fall and winter. :)

I did two different hats for some added variety.

The first was a super easy and fast hat I love to make--you use big fat needles and chunky yarn and I think the whole thing takes me about 2 hours.

I've posted about this hat before when I knit some for a little baby girl. You can see that post and access the pattern here.

Now this cabled hat was something new and adventurous for me--I'd never knitted cables before. And now that I have, I can't believe I waited so long! They are crazy easy and fun to do.

This hat takes 100 times longer than the other, but the results are worth it! I used a free pattern on ravelry and it was a well-written, easy-to follow pattern. I highly recommend it!

Happy knitting!

  2. I love both hats! I know, aren't cables easy? I love to do them because they make me look like a better knitter than I really am. :) Very nice!
