Kids Hoodie with Lining

Anyone else ready for spring? I've been soooo ready for the warm weather to get here. It just won't come! We actually went sledding during spring break. Yah, sad. My son was convinced the Easter Bunny wouldn't come because there was snow, and the bunny doesn't like snow. No matter what I said, he was convinced. So I was very relieved when the snow melted the day before Easter. Just in time.

Enough whining. I decided to use this little bit of extra time before spring to get ready. I dug through my kids' clothes to see what they still needed, made a list, and got to work.
First on the list for my little girl was a spring hoodie Last summer my Mother-in-law let me go through her fabric collection and patterns and pick whatever I wanted. Check out this pattern! Anyone else have 80s flashbacks? It made me laugh, but also, a hoodie is a hoodie so grabbed it.

She also had this soft pink knit and fun striped knit. I didn't think the pink was quite thick enough to be as warm as I wanted, so I lined the whole jacket with the cute stripe. Bonus, its super cute.

The pattern didn't have a lining, so I just made the jacket twice, turned the striped jacket inside-out and put it inside the pink jacket. then I sewed them together when I put on the binding at the bottom and the cuffs.

So there's a seam showing at the bottom, the rest of the inside has the seams all hidden inside so it's nice and smooth and comfy for my little girl.

And luckily, she likes it too! She refused to take the hood off the entire time we took photos, which I guess isn't the worst thing since I didn't do her hair that morning :)

Here's a close-up of the cute lining. (She was coming in for a kiss)

If you don't have nice knit to use and are tight on funds, try using an old hoodie you don't wear anymore. You can re-purpose the zipper, cuffs, everything. It just takes a little time to pull it all apart.
Another option is to check-out the clearance racks and re-purpose something you find for super cheap.

One step closer to Spring!!!
