Cabled Knit Baby Hat

It's almost fall, which means it is almost beanie weather again. :)
And I love fall, and I love warm winter hats. They're just fun--especially ones for little kids.

I knitted this cute cabled baby hat for my little nephew to wear this fall and winter, but this is my cute little bundle of joy modeling it for me. :)
I think she looks adorable. And the hat's pretty cute too--I especially like the little nub on top.

But this time, I wanted to make it to fit ~ 6 month old. I wasn't sure how it would work out, but I just moved up 2 knitting needle sizes and then rather than using baby yarn, I used regular worsted weight yarn. I also cut 28 stitches, which was the equivalent of 2 cables and their accompanying rows.

Plopped it on my large-headed 5-month old and it fits perfectly.

My mind is now racing with all the fun ideas of patterns and colors that I could do. The possibilities are endless! Bright and bold, soft and sweet, natural and woodsy.... The possibilities are endless.

Here is the link to the original pattern, which is a great pattern to follow. Good luck and happy knitting.
