I love buttons!
I don't even know why. Maybe because they seem just cute and simple, quirky and old-fashioned.
I have also sorts of grand ideas of making button Christmas tree garlands, hats with button embellishments, button pictures, embroidered flower pictures with buttons, etc. etc.
So, with this in mind, it is clear to see why I love these fun little handmade ornaments.
I mentioned before about my husband's family's tradition of making handmade Christmas ornaments during the Thanksgiving holidays, and these are one of our projects--perhaps even my all-time favorite.
These were equally fun for grownups and children alike too.
To make them you need the following supplies:
- thick-gauge wire (we used cloth-covered stem wire similar to this)
- lots and lots of buttons
- ribbon for embellishing
The kids had fun skewering buttons onto the wire pell-mell while the grownups enjoyed making more though-out patterns like the ones shown here (I especially like the brown, pink and cream vintage-looking one).
Have fun making these button wreaths.
