The Lonely Tree Shawl

I decided it was time to branch out a bit in my knitting.

So far, I've only stuck to smaller, simpler projects: hats, scarves, some basic toys for the kids.
And granted, I really like making this type of project, but I was feeling ready for a bit of a challenge. Something pretty and lacy.
And Christmas was almost here! So I decided to make Grandma a nice, warm winter shawl.
I think it turned out lovely.

It was a bit of a challenge to follow knitting charts for the first time, but after a bit, it became routine and I understood how the pattern worked. It was a great first chart-work project.

I love the leaf pattern.

And I really love the simple stockinette border and picot edging.

I think I could have blocked it more aggressively, but it was also my first time for that, so it is what it is.

  1. I am impressed with how fast you do it! it looks great and I still think the color is perfect.

  2. I am starting this shawl and I am wondering how to do the edges?

    1. Gosh, this was so long ago that I don't even remember! I'm pretty sure the pattern said how to do it, else I wouldn't have been able to. :)
