This last weekend was one of our great family traditions--the pumpkin party!
This pumpkin party has been going for about 7 years now, but it has grown and evolved from it's first years. The heart has always been the same though--family, harvest, fun, crisp, fall air, and good food! We've just added more people and more food--the more the merrier, right!?
We literally look forward to this pumpkin party all year--one has to when it comes to gardening! We plant the pumpkin seeds in the spring and take care of them all spring and summer, waiting for that perfect weekend when they are ready. Here are a few pictures from 2013 and from 2014.
This year we hauled in some hay bales for the decor--that was well worth the effort! They really added to the overall harvest-feel of the party. :)
Aren't these pumpkins great!? I love their shape--so fairy-taleish.
This particular one grew up on the fence--it isn't even touching the ground.
My mom also planted gourds this year along her back fence and that turned out to be so fun--a green, living fence!
I really love this picture, and I'm not really even sure why. I just love sunflowers. They are always so messy and falling all over the place, but I just love them anyway. I love feeding the birds with them and feeding my chickens with them. I love how cheerful they look when in bloom and what a sign of autumn they are when they look like this.
Apparently these French beauties are supposed to taste marvelous. We'll find out for sure!
I love her bouncing hair as she runs through the pumpkin patch.
This was a memorable tradition this year--my mom painted this pallet with chalkboard paint and then had everyone sign their name as a bit of a guest book. I love it!
We had a lot of friends and family come--even from afar that we don't get to see that often, which of course is a lot of the magic of this party. :)
I debated about showing so many family photos, but the truth is--that is what this party is all about!
I look at these photos and feel a lot of love. :)
