Husband project: wood turned baby rattle

A few years ago, my girls and I bought my husband a small wood lathe for Father's Day (as he requested). :)

He has loved it and has spent many hours out working on fun projects. His first project was a set of magic wands for the girls. Since then, I think pretty much all the neices and nephews have magic wands as well. He's made drop spindles for spinning wool, tops and quite a few pens. Well, most recently he also made a baby rattle.

My good friend Sally recently had a little baby girl, and when I went to visit we brought her this nice rattle--it's right up her alley. :)

The whole thing was made from one piece of wood, similar to this man did on his video

I loved how it turned out--sweet and natural. Perfect for a little bundle of joy! The wood lathe has been a good hobby for my husband--I'm glad he does it. :)
