Thorny Honey Locust

We have at least 3, maybe 4, different varieties of Honeylocust trees in our yard.

This one with the monster spikes is the most interesting. It is also them most scary to mow around. :)
We gave it a good trim after the first mow job last season.

Spring Break American Girl Princess Party

I'm so glad spring break is here, and I know my kids are too. Later in the week we are going out of town for a few days, but for the first part of the break we don't have any plans--as part of my plan.
Maybe it is just my kids, but they sure love to have free days--"home days" is usually what they call them.

Days where we don't go anywhere, don't have any schedules, and don't make a big production out of anything.
These are days where they play with toys they haven't had much time for during the past busy days, days for reading and baking cookies, days for playing outside for hours and hours.

The first thing these girls wanted to do on their first day off was play with their American Girl dolls--something they haven't hardly done for months and months.

Oh, they had a grand time--dressed the dolls up, dressed themselves up, and had a little snack with them.

I'm glad for days like today--for days when my kids can just be kids.
